So, I thought I would start off the year with an existential crisis…
Ok, so I’ve decided to compile a list of pros and cons of going to Hogwarts
Pros
Magic
Magic is obviously the main reason everyone wants to go to Hogwarts
Umm…that’s it?
Like, why else do people want to go to Hogwarts?
The teachers?
The Quidditch?
And so now, we move into the cons.
Cons
Magic is HARD
Like, it takes them ages to learn how to make a feather float!
Hogwarts is dangerous
They actually have to do work
In SO many books/tv shows/movies/etc. they never seem to have to do any work…but at Hogwarts?
Like, seriously. The movies seriously under-represent how much work they have to do.
And they have to write with QUILLS! And INK! And they have to write massive-long essays BY HAND!
Like, I can barely type an essay on my computer, which brings my next point…
There is no internet/computers/technology of any kind
Like, guys, this means no twitter, no youtube…and no Google!!
So, they have to write these massive long essays, by hand, with quills, and they have to do all the research without Google!
Like, how do they even? I suppose it wasn’t so bad back in Harry Potter’s day, because it was the 90s and computers/the internet weren’t quite such a big thing, but these days?
In conclusion
So, I guess as much as I would LOVE to have magic, going to Hogwarts doesn’t seem as great as everyone says.
What about you guys?
Do you want to go to Hogwarts? Even though the lack of internet/modern technology in general would make it 10x harder than muggle school? Let me know.

Haha, this is SUCH a brilliant post! And so, so true. I think for me the pros would totally outweigh the cons. BECAUSE MAGIC.
cassietheweird said:
Yeah, that always seems to be the popular opinion…but the essays…

Self-Writing quills!

Not only do you have to write with a quill, but that’s pretty impossible if you’re left handed. I’d be totally and permanently covered in ink. Magic and all the food, etc would be pretty good though.

*smacks forehead* THE FOOD! OF COURSE! How could I forget?? This changes everything!!
*contemplates*
Actually, it still doesn’t make up for writing with a quill.

haha those essays would take forever to write, and all the reading they do especially on their sixth year…ugh!
This is a great post by the way 🙂 it makes me want to reflect a bit more about my answer because right now, I still want to go to Hogwarts…probably with a number of pens and writing notebooks XD

Haha, great post! I probably would still go to Hogwarts… I HAVE SO MANY THINGS I NEED TO MAKE BETTER. (Werewolf rights. Like you said, the suspicious lack of technology. That weird thing where they measure essays in inches? *shrugs*) If I did go, though, I’d have to be prepared with all the useful Muggle stuff we have!

I would miss my TV way too much… Of course, I might get more reading done if I was at Hogwarts…

I think that the pros of being a wizard in general highly outweigh the cons.
Besides, once you’re there, you would probably be more motivated than any lifeblood due to the fact that magic is basically unknown to you. Motivation is key, Yeah?
Also you spent every day of the week there with no internet to pass the time. Hell, I’d study for the fun of it.
