Sacrifice

Author: Brigid Kemmerer

Release Date: 30 September, 2014

Synopsis (from Goodreads): One misstep and they lose it all. For the last time.

Michael Merrick is used to pressure.

He’s the only parent his three brothers have had for years. His power to control Earth could kill someone if he miscalculates. Now an Elemental Guide has it out for his family, and he’s all that stands in the way.

His girlfriend, Hannah, gets that. She’s got a kid of her own, and a job as a firefighter that could end her life without a moment’s notice.

But there are people who have had enough of Michael’s defiance, his family’s “bad luck.” Before he knows it, Michael’s enemies have turned into the Merricks’ enemies, and they’re armed for war.

They’re not interested in surrender. But Michael isn’t the white flag type anyway. There will be blood on the ground tonight…

Why this book?

Every book in this series (except for the first one) has made me cry my eyes out. Also, so far, each book has been better than the last one…so I’m expecting this to be fantastic.

Opposition

Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Release Date: 5 August, 2014

Synopsis (from Goodreads): Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can’t believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

Why this book?

I keep trying to think of a more fancy way of putting this, but really, when it all comes down to it, it’s all because of THAT ENDING!

I’m talking, of course about Origin (which was awesome), but then decided to end LIKE THAT!

If you’ve read it, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Revenge of Seven

Author: Pittacus Lore

Release Date (Aus): 27 August, 2014

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

The worst was supposed to be over. We were reunited after a decade apart. We were discovering the truth about our past. We were training and getting stronger every day. We were even happy. . . .

We never imagined the Mogadorians could turn one of our own against us. We were fools for trusting Five. And now Eight is lost forever. I would do anything to bring him back, but that’s impossible. Instead, I will do whatever it takes to destroy every last one of them.

I’ve spent my entire life hiding from them, and they’ve stolen everything away from me. But that stops now. We’re going to take the battle to them. We have a new ally who knows their weaknesses. And I finally have the power to fight back.

They caught Number One in Malaysia.

Number Two in England.

Number Three in Kenya.

And Number Eight in Florida.

They killed them all.

I am Number Seven.

I will make them pay.

Why this book?

The ending of Fall of Five almost killed me. Seriously, it was HORRIBLE. At least with Fall of Five I knew someone else who was reading it, and who finished it around the same time that I did, so we coped by crying together at my sister’s birthday party.

That being said, I’m still super excited to see Number Seven do the vengeance thing.

SilverShadows

Author: Richelle Mead

Release Date: 29 July, 2014

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.

Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

Why this book?

So, anyone who knows anything about me knows that I am DYING for this book. It’s so much worse because I don’t actually know anyone personally who’s read this series. My sister has read all the Vampire Academy books, but is yet to read Bloodlines. So I can’t tell her what’s happened, but she’s been watching me flail around with the release of each new trailer, desperate for this book.

One of the biggest issues that I’m having is that I didn’t even begin reading Vampire Academy until March this year (so I could go see the movie), and as a result, this the first book in the entire series that I’ve had to wait for. Considering I read the other 10 books within the space of three weeks, these past few months have been torture.

Only 2 weeks to go!!
