So…it’s been April for a while now…and here’s me realising that I haven’t done my monthly recap for March yet…

Sorry

happenings in March

YA Squad Tour:

The YA Squad Tour happened, and it was ever so much fun.

Even though I was late…as usual.

Look at all the pretty books I got:

YA Squad 2016

University:

Despite posting TWO posts (Jan AND Feb wrap up) about how I was going to be around more regularly, that still hasn’t happened.

This is largely due to the fact that this semester at uni I have 2-3 assignments due every week, with an occasional other assignment thrown in. So, I am quite busy at the moment. (Though at this very moment I’m about to go on a two week break, so I have two weeks to breathe…and then I have 1 major assignment and 2 mid-sem tests first week back *dies*).

That said, I think this is the most fun I’ve ever had at uni. I’m doing Group Theory (it’s a maths thing) and it is SO AWESOME! Also, topology (another maths thing) is pretty awesome as well.

To sum up, uni is awesome, but I have so many assignments that I don’t have time to procrastinate…which is when my blogging would usually happen.

BUT the plan is to write up a heap of posts during this two week break (because, let’s be honest here, I won’t be studying), so that things can keep happening on the blog while this is me:

So…that was my March. Better late than never, right? Seriously, though, when it says in the title that I didn’t realise that March ended, it was completely true. I don’t know what day of the week it is…I haven’t known for 6 weeks. I don’t have any brain capacity beyond “this assignment is due either today or tomorrow, so I should work on it”.

How was your March?

This Week’s Topic: Top Ten Auto-buy Authors

Regardless of whether I have money or not, you can be pretty sure I’ll buy the newest book from these authors:

Throne of Glass1. Sarah J. Maas
Having read all the Throne of Glass series, and ACOTAR, I can truthfully say I will probably love anything this woman writes.

 2. Rachael Craw
Everyone should know by now that my love of Spark knows no bounds. And I am sure this love will continue with any other bookSpark Rachael Craw decides to write. (She’s amazing, people!!)

3. Julie Kagawa
I searched for ages to find The Iron King, wanting desperately to read it. And I was in no way disappointed. Since then, I have been able to get my hands on all of Julie Kagawa’s books, and I have loved them all.

TheRavenBoys4. Maggie Stiefvater
Ok, I really don’t think I need to explain this one. I need The Raven King like I need air.

5. Alexandra Bracken
I cannot believe it took me so long to get around to reading The Darkest Minds! I loved it so very much, and am VERY excited for Passenger.

6. Kiera Cass
It’s funny, that the only reason I read The Selection was because my sister wanted to read it…I may have barely given it a second glance otherwise, and wouldn’t that be disappointing.

7. Cynthia Hand
With the exception of the very beginning of Unearthly, I absolutely ADORED the Unearthly trilogy, and The Last Time We Say Goodbye was pretty amazing too. I can’t wait to see what Cynthia Hand writes next.

RebelBelle8. Rachael Hawkins
It took me WAY too long to find Hex Hall, but it was worth the effort. And the Rebel Belle trilogy has been just as good so far.

9. Michelle HodkinMaraDyer
The Mara Dyer trilogy was so fantastically creepy! I’ve actually been wanting to reread the series for a while.

10. Stephanie Oakes
Ok, so she’s only got one book out so far…but it’s a darn good one. I am very excited to see what’s out next.

This Week’s Topic: Top Ten Books I’d love to see as movies

1. Rebel Belle, by Rachel HawkinsDarkestMinds
When they said ‘Legally Blonde meets Terminator’, they weren’t kidding. Honestly, the whole time I was reading this, I was thinking ‘how good would this be as a movie?’.

2. Pivot Point, by Kasie West

3. The Darkest Minds, by Alexandra Bracken

Masquerade4. Masquerade, by Kylie Fornasier
Just for the costumes alone I would want this movie.

5. Half Bad, by Sally Green

6. Unearthly, by Cynthia Hand

7. Legend, by Marie Lu

8. Throne of Glass, by Sarah J. MaasTheRavenBoys
Umm…because…Throne of Glass…duh.

9. Under the Never Sky, by Veronica Rossi

10. The Raven Boys, by Maggie Stiefvater
Ok, I was a little hesitant adding this to the list, because it is just so amazing, but I think that if it was done well, it could be just as amazing as a movie.

New Bloggish Stuff

It’s January, which means it’s a new year! (In case you missed it, New Year’s Eve was on Wednesday). This means that I can finally implement the changes I’ve been planning since October!

tumblr_mmp7yvw4XC1ru4t8ao2_250

First, if you look towards the left of the screen, you will notice that a rating system is being added. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while.
Also, if you look up, you’ll notice that I’ve created a review archive. That was fun to make.

tumblr_mh7lgshDF01ru4t8ao2_250

And speaking of reviews, I have finally figured out a general format for them, which makes me happy.

In other news, Top Ten Tuesdays and Stacking the Shelves will continue on as usual. Sometimes there’ll be pictures or links, other times just a list because I’m lazy/busy.

I haven’t done one in a while, but my weekly wrap-ups, known as This Week in Books, will now be called This Week’s Adventures, and will hopefully start to become more elaborate.

Book Buying Limitations

As you can see here, last year’s book buying got a little out of hand.

To combat this, I’m giving myself a list of books I am allowed to buy. If it’s not on the list, I am not allowed to buy it.

Note: this list is still in progress, so it may change slightly in the near future.

Coming 2015:
The Ruby Circle, by Richelle Mead
The Last Time We Say Goodbye, by Cynthia Hand
Throne of Glass #4, by Sarah J. Maas
A Court of Thorns and Roses, by Sarah J. Maas
Rogue, by Julie Kagawa
The Forgotten Crown, by Julie Kagawa
Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes, by Rick Riordan
The Sword of Summer, by Rick Riordan
Dangerous Deception, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Half Wild, by Sally Green
Dead of Winter, by Kresley Cole
Let the Sky Fall #3, by Shannon Messenger
The Foretelling of Georgie Spider, by Ambelin Kwaymullina
Raven Cycle #4, by Maggie Stiefvater

Already out:
Prodigy and Champion, by Marie Lu
The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves, by Maggie Stiefvater
The Shiver Trilogy, by Maggie Stiefvater
Illusions of Fate, by Kiersten White

So, last year, by final count, I was buying an average of 9 books per month.
To keep this up, I have to buy an average of 2 books per month.
