One thing I’ve never really understood about the Harry Potter world is the dates of the new school year. Every year, the Hogwarts express leaves on September 1st at 11am. The next day, at Hogwarts, classes start, and more often then not, Harry and Ron are complaining about their Monday schedule.
This is where my problem lies: every year, without fail, the Hogwarts express seems to leave on Sunday, September 1st. Don’t get me wrong, I love Harry Potter, but this is one of the things that bugs me about the series…there aren’t many. My current theory is that the days of the week are different in the wizarding world, where the 2nd of September is automatically a Monday, regardless of the year. If anyone else has a theory about how this might work, I’d love to hear it.
