Top Ten Tuesday is a thing where we get given a topic, and we have to list our ‘top ten’ things for the topic. Pretty self-explanatory.
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
This Week’s Topic: Top Ten Six Books I Picked Up on a Whim
1. All Our Yesterdays, by Cristin Terrill
Saw this in the bookstore, picked it up, began reading the first page to see if it was any good.
4 chapters and a massive headache because TIME TRAVEL later I found myself buying the book.
2. Dangerous Girls, by Abigail Haas
A similar situation here to All Our Yesterdays. I began reading it in the bookstore and decided I needed it.
3. Storm, by Brigid Kemmerer
The (Aus) cover was pretty. What was I supposed to do? Not buy it?
4. In The Skin of a Monster, by Kathryn Barker
I saw this in the bookstore and everything about it appealed to me…the cover, the title, the whole dreamscape concept. I regret nothing.
5. Half Bad, by Sally Green
This one had a lot more deliberation attached to it. I almost bought it several times after reading the first chapter in the store…in the end, I got a free copy at PTALive.
6. Hex Hall, by Rachel Hawkins
My history with obtaining this book is a long and somewhat complicated one. I’ll tell you all about it some time.
Which books made your list?
I still have internal deliberations on the Half Bad trilogy mainly because I haven’t seen any middle ground with close bloggers–it’s either loved loved loved or wtfisthisshit. So polarizing!
HALF BAD IS SOOO GOOD!!!
But, yeah, you do have a point…I haven’t seen any middle ground for it either…
I also can’t recall ever seeing negative reviews of Half Bad…I’m sure they’re out there, but I haven’t noticed them.
You picked up some awesome books on a whim. Dangerous Girls made my list too, I picked that up on a whim in a bookshop as it was on special. I read it in one sitting, couldn’t get enough of it. I have owned All Our Yesterdays for years now, I really need to hurry up and get to that one. Great list 🙂 You can check out my post here.
When I found Dangerous Girls it wasn’t on special…it just really appealed to me, so I checked goodreads and it seemed to be well received, and then I read the first few chapters and was hooked, so I bought it.
And it was pretty much the same story with All Our Yesterdays…except I didn’t bother checking goodreads before reading the first few chapters and deciding it was awesome enough to buy.
We seem to have similar taste! Hex Hall, Half Bad, and Dangerous Girls are very much books I want to read (hopefully this year!). Let’s see if they got hyped for a reason.
YES! They totally deserve all their hype!! You need to read them.
Dangerous Girls was on my list this week too.
My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2016/05/17/top-ten-tuesday-57/
It was a great book, wasn’t it.
Yup!
All Our Yesterdays and Half Bad are some of my favorites. 🙂
Check out my TTT.
They are amazing books.
It’s this terribly beautiful cover’s faults when we just HAVE To read the book because it’s pretty, right??? BLAME THE COVER. Ahem. But I won those Brigid Kemmerer books and I STILL HAVEN’T READ THEM YET. I am a shame. (Although I read her recent one….Thicker Than Water? I think it’s called. The one with people drowning and kissing underwater. Ahem. Anyway, it was sooooo good that I NEED to read all her things.)
YAY FOR HALF BAD!!!
If you liked Thicker than Water, then you should LOVE the Elementals series! Her characters are just so great.
And curse them pretty covers! (But not too much because they’re SOOO PRETTY)
I absolutely adored Dangerous Girls (and my adored I mean it blew my mind) and All Our Yesterdays, so I’m glad you enjoyed them as much as I did. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous choices! ❤
Yes, Dangerous Girls was pretty mind blowing.
And All Our Yesterdays was AMAZING, wasn’t it? I was a sobbing mess by the time I finished it.
