As those of you following my twitter and instagram may know, I’ve recently started challenging myself to start reading all the books I bought last year but haven’t read yet for whatever reason. Which basically means no buying/borrowing books until all the books are read.
And, as those of you who saw yesterday’s Stacking the Shelves post may have realised, this has not gone well so far.
So, I thought I’d make it an official challenge: from now until the end of March, I will not buy or borrow any book, but will only read the books currently in my possession (be it owned or borrowed).
There are, of course, exceptions. If there is a book on this list which is being released in either February or March, I am allowed to buy and read it. This will include books like The Ruby Circle, by Richelle Mead and The Last Time We Say Goodbye, by Cynthia Hand (which I have already pre-ordered).
And, of course, my birthday is coming up, so any books I get for my birthday will just get added to the pile.
YAY OFFICIAL CHALLENGES!!!! AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR THIS MONTH!!! (I will probably wish you happy birthday a lot this month). 😀
That’s ok, I like Happy Birthdays.
You know what I like more? Presents *wink wink*
(Haha, I’m kidding)
WOW GOOD LUCK. I’m not BUYING any more books until March, but I’m still allowing myself to borrow books…this could be bad.
See, I was going to do that…but Ruby Circle and The Last Time We Say Goodbye come out in Feb. Plus, it’s my birthday and I always ask for books for my birthday.
I’m also currently avoiding the library.
Good luck with the no-buying!
Gosh you’re hard! But I totally agree. I have to try this challenge. I have so many books that I own that NEED reading. Great idea:)
Yes, I was looking at my shelves and began thinking ‘this is starting to get out of hand’…
You should totally do this with me! It’ll be fun*
*may not actually be fun.
Great challenge! I am definitely going to do this. I have all of these books that I never read and it makes me sad. I love your blog so much and this is amazing!

Aww, thanks.
Yes, you should try this with me. I think this is a problem that a lot of people have.
Did the unread books started staring at you ? lol 😛
I haven’t got a lot of books but I’ve put e-books on hold until I’m done with the actual books I got 😀
I’ve got all my unread books in piles around my room. Since I’m so pedantic about my bookshelf, it’s driving me nuts, which is encouraging me to read them.
But I’ve also got a few Netgalley books I need to read.
This is such a good idea. GOOD LUCK. I’ve tried something similar myself… but, let’s face it, my self-restraint when it comes to books isn’t very good, so I gave up awfully easily. 😛
I haven’t tried this kind of thing before…and I just got a heap of early birthday money, plus the bonus points on my Dymocks card.
I’m chose a bad month to start this thing.
This is a really good idea, but I personally have the ability to stick to things about as well as dried up glue. I love that your letting yourself still have new release otherwise isn’t it just so easy to cave for that new shiny book! I hope this project goes well for you!
