I’m not one to regularly leave books unfinished. Anyone who knows me knows that.
So, when I DON’T finish a book, there must be a pretty good reason, right?
Right. So, here is a list of reasons why I don’t finish books:
1. I don’t want the series to end.
I still haven’t finished Blood of Olympus yet. Because once I do, it will be over.
And I really don’t want it to be over.
2. The book is boring me.
This is probably the most obvious reason. If the book is boring, don’t keep reading it.
Especially since we all have towering TBR piles. Why waste time on the boring books?
3. I put the book down.
I am certain that I am not alone here. I was reading it, I was enjoying it, but then I put it down and walked away.
And now I just can’t pick it up again. I want to read it, I want to see how it ends, but I just can’t.
So, those are my excuses.
What causes you to not finish books?
What do you mean, you haven’t read Blood of Olympus yet?! Cassie, you’re bad, very bad! How could you?!
Seriously, no pressure to read it, but you should take the plunge. It was great book, but at the end I wanted to throw a tantrum, how could it be over? Why couldn’t there just be another book?! You must get out the book and read it:)
I did write this comment up before, but funnily enough it seemed to eat it. So if you get doubles, I’m sorry!
Yeah, I got two.
No worries, though.
My sister finished Blood of Olympus, came to where I was, stood there giggling hysterically for a couple of seconds, leant against the wall and slowly slid to the floor.
She ended up lying on the floor giggling for several minutes.
It’s the first time she has EVER finished a Percy Jackson book before me.
As for why I haven’t read it yet…I started reading it. But I’m the kind of person who likes to read an entire book in one go, and if that doesn’t happen, I tend to…leave it.
It doesn’t matter how good it is. I didn’t get to read it in one sitting, and so now it isn’t getting read.
I haven’t even started the Blood of Olympus series yet. xD
Yeah, I get where you’re coming from all of these points. I try really hard to finish every book I start, though. I think in 2014 there was only one book I DNF’d. O.o
I HATE DNF’ing books. Hate it.
But sometimes, it just happens. Like, I was reading one book, due back at the library, and I just wasn’t getting into it, and there were other library books due back that I hadn’t read, so I put it down.
I’m not interested enough to pick it up again.
I pretty much never DNF books. Because I’m stubborn, probably, but also because there’s that tiny chance that the ending might make it worth it? It’s usually classics I don’t finish, haha.
The amount of times I’ve disliked the beginning of a book, only to love the ending…it’s ridiculous.
Then there was that one time where the book got progressively worse. And I kept reading it.
Such a waste. The whole time I was thinking about all the other books I could be reading.
It’s really hard DNF’ing books because, yeah, they could get better.
But sometimes I just want a book that doesn’t need to get better, because it’s awesome from the start.
I don’t DNF books often. It’s usually the library that causes me to have to stop.
